My Exercise Plan for ‘08
December 31, 2007
I have 3 marathons planned in ‘08. One is in 2 weeks. The one after that is the end of April in Austria. Then, I would like to run the Marine Corp Marathon at the end of October. There are chances that I might add one in there, so that I can run one approximately every 3 or 4 months, but I haven’t looked at that as of late. So, I have decided that there needs to be a general weekly workout goal.
Additionally, I am taking a bike tour of Austria and Hungary at the end of April and beginning of May. So, after this marathon, I need to incorporate cycling into my week. Somedays I may need to do strength and a cardio workout.
So, My weeks will have to include:
4 days of running, sometimes with 5 days.
2 days of longer cycling; I don’t want to count my rides to and from work in this, these need to be longer than 6 miles each.
3 days of strength training, which can also be done on the same days as a run or cycle.
1 day of complete rest per week.
I also want to swim. I will map out a schedule, I guess I need to buy an ‘08 calander, huh!?!
THIS YEAR WILL BE FOCUSING ON ME….

20 Min Rowing Machine
40 min strength training
Today, I watched Price is Right and worked out and I loved it! I know strength training will not benefit me so much for this marathon, since I have intended to strength train the past month and haven’t. But, I want to strength train non the less, for me and my physique and health. The health benefits are numerous and it is important, especially for my bones. Also, although I am in good shape, I want to see more muscle in my core (back and front). Running is a great cardio workout but I know I need to add strength for an overall fit body.
My Taper
December 31, 2007
HI! So, someone commented at how comical it was that I am changing my training schedule this late in the game. Well, I am, but my training schedule has always been dynamic, as is my life. Always going with the flow. But, I would like to point out that I have also been reading about training and one article that has stuck to me is this one about how tapering shouldn’t be as drastic as thought before. Especially if, your miles per week haven’t been huge, which mine have not. So, I will taper with this article in mine.
Check it out, it is a good thought: http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-244–12123-0,00.html
